A locally-owned small business located in Portland Oregon, Third Planet Environmental founder, Matt Radtke is an Oregon native, who grew up in the Salem area, attended college in Eugene and later moved to the Portland area in 2006. Matt started his experience in the construction field in high school working as a framer, learning all aspects of building from foundations to roofing. He later continued to hone his skills with more detailed oriented work with custom furniture, and studying under his father Lee, and going on to create at Portland's The Joinery. In the downturn of the 2008 financial crisis, Matt joined forces with his brothers and father to turn their homebrewing passion in to a business and start Gilgamesh Brewing in Salem. After years of building the brewing and sales side of the company, the family decided to expand and have created three brewpub restaurants, utilizing Matt’s experience in the build-out, construction, and development of the brewpubs. Through the remodeling process, Matt learned more of the dangers and difficulties with older buildings and the importance of safety and regulations. This is when he decision was made to further his education and specialized training to survey and consult on asbestos, lead, mold, and radon in the northwest. He and his wife Megan (a geological hydrologist and environmental consultant) enjoy the outdoors, traveling, and playing with their sweet dog, Betty.
